Kakarbhitta is the closest international land crossing for anyone in Eastern Nepal. From the border, Darjeeling is around four to five hours, Gangtok in Sikkim about six to seven. Whether you stop in Damak first depends on three things: your timing, your transport, and your willingness to drive after dark.
